Serbian PM begins multi-day visit to India

Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit is "one of the most important political and economic meetings in India, bringing together heads of state and government, corporations, representatives of chambers of commerce and industry associations, small and medium enterprises, scientists and experts," the government said.

The summit is "expected to attract representatives of more than 100 countries, 2,000 Indian and foreign companies and more than two million visitors," while partner countries include the United States, France, Great Britain, Poland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Singapore, Canada, UAE, Australia and Japan.

The summit will focus on aeronautics, agriculture, food industry, biotechnology, chemical and petrochemical industry, defense, construction, electronics, innovation, research and development, information technology, health, pharmacy, environment, renewable energy, large infrastructure projects, transport, port traffic, entrepreneurship, textile industry, urban development and tourism.

Gujarat is one of India's most economically developed states and represents the business world gates to other parts of India, with the largest refinery in the world and the fourth-largest steelmaker. It is the largest Indian manufacturer of pharmaceutical, chemical and petrochemical products and the world's largest producer of processed diamonds.

Gujarat records a growth of foreign direct investment of 30 percent a year, the Serbian government said announcing Vucic's visit, and added that the Indian sate has "more than two million macro, medium and small enterprises, employing 15 million people - it is profiled as one of the largest centers of Asian cars and car parts industry, where General Motors India, TATA, AMW, as well as other companies have their plants."
