"Russia's demands must be met"
Commenting on the agreement reached yesterday, on the extension of the delivery of grain via the Black Sea, Çavuºoğlu clarified that Russia's demands must be met in order to ensure access to food for those who need it, Anadolia reported."Turkey is not defending Russia, but it is aware that this is an agreement in which Russia's demands must be met in order for grain to reach those who need it," Çavuºoğlu said at a press conference.
He said that he hoped that there would be a ceasefire and an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine, through diplomatic negotiations, so that there would no longer be a need to extend the grain delivery agreement.
The agreement on the Black Sea Grain Corridor was extended for 120 days, starting on November 19.
"I welcome the agreement by all parties to continue the Black Sea grain initiative to facilitate the safe navigation of export of grain, foodstuffs and fertilisers from Ukraine," UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said in a statement.
The UN, he said, was also "fully committed to removing the remaining obstacles to exporting food and fertilisers from (Russia)" - a part of the deal Moscow sees as critical.
Russia's foreign ministry confirmed the extension of the deal for 120 days starting from November 18, without any changes to the current one.
