Duel: A pair of Russian fighter jets against a pair of Ukrainian...

The fighters belonged to a squadron of the Ukrainian Air Force. Two fighters were destroyed by a pair of Su-35s of the Russian Aerospace Forces. The information was published on November 14.

The Russian pilot, identified only by the Russians as Klim, the commander of the Su-35S multirole fighter, said the downed Ukrainian planes were on combat duty/operation to protect the airspace of Donbass.

Russian fighter jets intercepted them 200 km away. They were in a waiting position, Klim said, picking the right moment for air acceleration. So, the Su-35 fighter jets took a combat course.

Acceleration in the air was also performed by Ukrainian fighter aircrafts. Klim explains that the Su-35s illuminated the two fighters with their radar and fired air-to-air missiles. The missiles were out of visual range. After the launch of the missile, Ukrainian aircraft markings (markers) disappeared from the radar of Russian fighters. Information about downed Ukrainian aircrafts was later confirmed by Russian intelligence.

"Two aircraft were shot down and the covering fighter left the escort area," the intelligence report said.
