The last polling stations were closed in Alaska, in the Aleutian Islands, where about 10,000 inhabitants live, and in Hawaii, which are in the same time zone.

More than 240 million Americans elected the new convocation of the House of Representatives and the Senate, governors in 36 states, and local elections were held.

Around 7:30 CET, the situation is still tight in the Senate, where the Democrats, according to CNN projections, lead 48:47, and 51 seats are needed for a majority. In the House of Representatives, the result is 198:173 in favor of the Republicans, and 218 seats are needed for a majority.

Trump: "Stay here"

The American media estimate that the Republicans will have a majority in the House of Representatives.
