President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, signed a decree extending the state of emergency and mobilization in that country for another 90 days.

Finland and Sweden submitted applications for NATO membership, but Turkey immediately blocked consideration of the candidacies. In Mariupol, Ukrainian soldiers and members of the "Azov" unit, blocked in the "Azovstal" factory, continued to surrender.

The sixth package of European Union sanctions against Russia is still blocked, said European Commissioner for Economic Affairs Paolo Gentiloni.

Biden will host the leaders of Finland and Sweden today

U.S. President Joseph Biden will host the leaders of Finland and Sweden, Sauli Niinistö and Magdalena Andersson, at the White House today, after the two Nordic countries applied for NATO membership.

The United States supports the efforts of both countries to join the North Atlantic Alliance, and if their application for membership passes, the Alliance will have 32 members. However, Turkey opposes the entry of Helsinki and Stockholm into NATO, accusing them of being a refuge for anti-Turkish extremists.

Britain and several NATO countries have offered security guarantees to Finland and Sweden while their applications are being considered, promising to help them in the event of aggression.

"I warmly welcome and strongly support the historic applications of Finland and Sweden to join NATO," Biden said.

G7 today on the finances of Ukraine

G7 finance ministers will meet in Germany today to work out a plan to strengthen Ukraine's war-torn economy. U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said ahead of the meeting in Königswinter that what has been agreed so far "is not enough" and called on U.S. partners to "join us in increasing their financial support."

The United States has made progress with a $ 40 billion aid package to replenish Kyiv's coffers and military stores. Japan announced on Thursday morning that it would double its aid to Ukraine to 600 million dollars in a coordinated move with the World Bank.

A civilian was killed in a Ukrainian attack on the Kursk region

Early this morning, Ukrainian forces shelled a border village in the Kursk region in western Russia, and at least one civilian was killed in the attack, said the governor of the Kursk region, Roman Starovoyt.

He said that there were also wounded who were given first aid, RIA Novosti reports. The grenades hit the distillery in the village of Tetkino and several other buildings, he stated on the Telegram application.

"Another enemy attack on Tetkino, which took place at dawn, unfortunately ended in tragedy. It is currently known that at least one civilian was killed. According to preliminary data, it is a truck driver who brought raw materials to the distillery," Starovoyt said. He mentioned that the fire is now being extinguished in the village, and that several houses have been damaged.

According to him, there are reports of unexploded ordnance.
