This district belongs to the western enclave, which is located between Poland and Lithuania.

According to the statement, simulated "electronic launches" of Iskander mobile ballistic missile systems with nuclear capability were practiced, the Guardian reports.

Russian forces practiced single and multiple strikes on imaginary targets - missile launchers, airports, protected infrastructure, military equipment and enemy command posts.

It is added that after performing the "electronic" launches, the military personnel performed a maneuver to change the position in order to avoid a "possible counterattack".

Combat units also practiced "actions in conditions of radiation and chemical contamination". According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, more than 100 soldiers took part in the exercise.

Russia put its nuclear forces in a state of high combat readiness shortly after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24.
