"And maybe now, with a new administration, there will be opportunities to do that. I certainly hope so," he added.

In the first part of the interview, published a day earlier, he accused Russia of "conducting a scorched earth policy in Syria," while in the second, he reiterated U.S. claims that Russia used "cyberattacks" to influence the U.S. election.
