Islamic State threatens Russia with "jihad"

The agency said it was "not immediately possible to independently verify the video" that was published on a Telegram messaging app account used by Islamic State terrorists.

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday that this type of threats "will not affect the policy of fighting against terrorism."

"Such threats cannot affect in any way the policy pursued by Russia and President Putin in the fight against international terrorism, which, of course, will continue in all directions," he said, according to TASS.

Peskov advised against "overestimating the significance of such statements."

"Of course, we read such publications carefully. Our special services in charge of the anti-terror work and security issues take them into account. All necessary steps are certainly taken by the Russian Defense Ministry during the operation of the Russian aerospace forces in Syria," said the Kremlin spokesman, adding:

"The president gets regular reports on this."
