Big Thaw continues: Turkish FM says "thank you" to Russia

"Russia has expressed unconditional support to us. First of all, I’d like to thank Mr. Putin and other Russian officials," said the Turkish minister.

Cavusoglu also revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan could meet in August ahead of a G20 summit.

"This meeting will focus on removing the economic barriers and on other steps to restore bilateral relations," he said.

Turkey's downing of a Russian plane taking part in the Syria operation dealt a serious blow to relations between the two countries - but they recently suddenly improved after Erdogan apologized to Putin - and to the family of the Russian pilot murdered after his Su-24 bomber was shot down.

Since then, there have been a number of signals suggesting "a big thaw" in relations between the two countries, coming from both Turkey, and Russia.
