Turkey "will never leave its Bosniak brothers and sisters"

Cavusoglu, who on Monday attended the marking of the anniversary of the crime in Srebrenica, told the daily that it was now "clear to everyone that this terrible crime could have been prevented, and that's the most important lesson we should all take away from it."

"The UN was here, Europe and the whole world were here, we can safely say that the crime took place under the auspices of all the observers. This should be the greatest lesson to anyone who has any doubts about the nature and scale of this crime," said Cavusoglu.

He further claimed that Bosniaks were the victims "only because they are Muslims," and added that "those responsible must be punished, while Bosniaks, together with Serbs, Croats and others are left to build and develop the country in which they live."

Cavusoglu said that he after everything that happened "still believes in co-existence in Bosnia-Herzegovina."

The Turkish official also said that "the responsibility of politicians in Bosnia-Herzegovina is great" and that they should "work to boost the economy and reduce unemployment."
