Aleksei Pushkov believes that the friendly relations between Moscow and Belgrade will not change significantly after early parliamentary elections in Serbia.

Moscow expects "no significant changes" after elections

"The ruling party won in the elections in Serbia, indicating that most Serbs voted in favor of continuity, for the continuation of the present course of European integration, while maintaining friendly, partnership relations with Russia," Pushkov told TASS.

He added that the result was "expected" and suggested that "in this context there won't be significant changes in the foreign policy of Serbia."

"This applies to the Serbian-Russian relations - I believe they will develop in the framework of the agreements were reached during the contacts and meetings between the leaders of the two countries, in particular, the latest visits of Serbian Prime Minister Vucic and President (Tomislav) Nikolic to Moscow," Pushkov said.

He noted that the DSS and the SRS won five, and about eight percent of the vote, respectively, and said that although they are differences between them, both parties are strongly critical toward the issue of Serbia's possible "accession to NATO."

" I think that the presence of these two parties in the Serbian parliament will have some impact on the debate and discussion on the issue of Serbia's future foreign policy strategy," Pushkov said.
