"Islamic State lost 30 percent of territory it controled"
Islamic State-controlled territory has been reduced by about 30 percent last year, says a spokesperson for the U.S.-led coalition.

In its report, Reuters said that Islamic State "swept through a third of Iraq in 2014" taking Mosul and "reaching the vicinity of Baghdad."According to the agency, "counter-offensives by Iraqi and Kurdish armed forces supported by the U.S.-led coalition, and by Iran-backed Shi'ite militias" saw IS lose Tikrit and Ramadi.
Reuters said that in Syria, Islamic State is fighting "the army of President Bashar al-Assad and other rebel groups opposed to his rule. "
There the group is facing air strikes "by the U.S.-led coalition and by Russia." The agency said that the latter "sent warplanes to support its ally, the Syrian government."
