UN: Over 6,400 people killed in Ukraine

The UN Office for Human Rights said that more than 6,400 people hav ebeen killed during the armed conflict in Ukraine, and about 16,000 wounded.

UN: Over 6,400 people killed in Ukraine

It added that about five million people suffer the consequences of the conflict, including the 1.2 million internally displaced persons, AFP reported.

“Even with the decrease in hostilities, civilians continue to be killed and wounded. We have documented alarming reports about summary executions, which were carried out by armed groups and are looking into similar accusations against Ukrainian forces,” UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein said.

As stated in the report, in areas controlled by armed groups of civilians were faced with "murder, torture and abuse" as well as detention, forced labor, looting and extortion.

The UN Office of Human Rights said that the withdrawal of foreign fighters and termination of the flow of weapons from Russia will have a significant impact on the establishment of law and order and the implementation of the provisions of the Minsk Agreement.

The commissioner urged all parties to implement the agreement and stated all cases of violations of human rights and international humanitarian law should be investigated.
