Nikolic and Dodik to attend Victory Day parade in Moscow

Leaders of 26 countries have confirmed their participation in the Victory Day celebrations in Moscow, Sputnik reported.

Invitations have been sent to 68 heads of state as well as the UN, the Council of Europe, UNESCO and the EU, Lavrov explained at a meeting of the organizing committee for Victory Day celebrations, the TASS agency reported.

The Russian foreign minister said that 28 heads of state attended the 65th anniversary Victory Day celebrations in 2010.

A number of western leaders, including the German chancellor, the French president, the British prime minister, and the president of the EC, will not attend this year because of Russia's alleged involvement in the war in Ukraine.

The Polish president earlier this year launched an initiative for European leaders gather in Gdansk instead of Moscow, "where the war broke out on September 1, 1939."
