Amnesty granted to demonstrators in Ukraine

The agency said that hundreds of angry demonstrators issued an ultimatum to the Ukrainian government on Sunday hours after vacating city hall.

"We are issuing an ultimatum to authorities - if they do not immediately announce the complete and unconditional rehabilitation in some 2,000 cases, we will retake city hall," Andriy Illenko of the nationalist opposition Svoboda party said previously.

"I am satisfied. Despite a difficult decision, we succeeded in overcoming emotions and ensuring that the law came into force," Ruslan Andriyko, a protester who had managed the day-to-day running of the occupied city hall, was quoted as saying on Sunday.
