The number of victims who died in a powerful earthquake that hit Italy on Tuesday has risen to 17. More than 350 people were injured and 14,000 lost their homes. Rescue teams on Wednesday pulled the last body from the rubble of a factory in the town of Medolla. The teams are still removing debris and helping the population. Media have reported that a 65-year-old woman was pulled from the rubble near the city of Modena. Smaller earthquakes were registered all day on Tuesday and the strongest 5.8 magnitude earthquake was registered around 9:00 and its epicenter was between the towns of Carpi, Medolla and Mirandolla. The country was hit by two more powerful earthquakes around 13:00. A 3.9 magnitude quake hit the area on Tuesday night. Seismologists have warned that aftershocks are possible. The National Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanology has stated that dozens of earthquakes were registered last night and that the strongest 3.4 magnitude earthquake was felt near Modena around 3:54.
