Germany warns Ukraine over Tymoshenko case In the interview, expressed his concern over Tymoshenko's health and offered that she be treated in Germany. The country's former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko was found guilty on corruption charges and is currently serving her time in prison. Westernwelle is not the first German politician to issue warnings to Ukraine over the case. Previously, chair of the German parliament's Foreign Policy Commission Ruprecht Polenz - from Angela Merkel's Christian Democrats - reached for the Ukraine-EU trade deal: ''The Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with Ukraine was only initialed. Whether it will take effect depends on whether the government in Kiev will, in the Timoshenko case, allow for proper medical treatment in Germany or another country." According to media reports, Merkel herself threatened to boycott the European Football Championship to be held in Ukraine this summer. Tymoshenko's letter published on the website of her party a few days ago stated that she had embarked on a hunger strike, "after she was forcibly taken to a public hospital on that day, because of which she missed the opening of her new trial". Tymoshenko also accused prison guards of "hitting her in the stomach". A file photo of Yulia Tymoshenko looking out from a prison window (Beta/AP) Tanjug
