U.S. army base in Kyrgyzstan could be used for an attack on Iran, Russia’s Foreign Ministry stated on Wednesday. “We cannot rule out a possibility that the infrastructure will be used in a possible conflict with Iran,” Russian Foreign Ministry’s Spokesman Aleksandr Lukashevich. “U.S. may use Kyrgyzstan base in Iran strike” The Manas base, which is located at the airport in the capital of Bishkek, is currently used as a key coalition hub for operations in nearby Afghanistan. According to Russia, the U.S. could launch a strike against Iran, using claims the country is trying to create nuclear weapons as an excuse, in order to take control over large oil and natural gas reserves in the former Soviet republics in central Asia.
