A video has been posted on the interent showing American soldiers urinating on the bodies of killed Taliban in Afghanistan. The U.S. military has said that it was investigating the footage in order to "verify its authenticity". It shows what appear to be U.S. soldiers from the Marine Corps desecrating the dead bodies of the Taliban fighters. The Council on American-Islamic Relations has sent a letter to the U.S. Defense Secretary demanding those in the video be punished under military law, euronews reported. Previous scandals involving U.S. soldiers include abuses at Iraq’s Abu Ghraib prison in 2004 and the recent conviction of 11 soldiers for running what became known as a "kill squad", murdering unarmed Afghan civilians, said euronews. "Small group of U.S. individuals" Meanwhile, NATO-led forces in Afghanistan denounced the incident and said in a statement on Thursday that it appeared to have been perpetrated by "a small group of U.S. individuals". "A video recently posted on a public website appears to show U.S. military personnel committing an inappropriate act with enemy corpses. This disrespectful act is inexplicable and not in keeping with the high moral standards we expect of coalition forces," the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan said, and added: "ISAF strongly condemns the actions depicted in the video, which appear to have been conducted by a small group of U.S. individuals, who apparently are no longer serving in Afghanistan."
