Osama bin Laden’s sons have assessed that killing of their father represents a violation of the international law. They compared his fate to that of Saddam Hussein and Slobodan Milosevic. Bin Laden’s sons challenge legality of father’s killing Pointing to the similarities with the cases of the former Iraqi and Serbian presidents, bin Laden’s sons point out that they at least stood trial. “We maintain that arbitrary killing is not a solution to political problems,” the statement provided to The New York Times on Tuesday said, adding that “justice must be seen to be done.” Bin Laden’s sons also wonder why their father was not captured alive and point out that his three wives and several children, who have been detained since May 2, should be released. The statement, among other things, points out that the family is not convinced that bin Laden is dead bearing in mind that they did not see his body or the photographs that could prove it. Bin Laden’s sons also wonder “why an unarmed man was not arrested and tried in a court of law so that truth is revealed to the people of the world”. The statement calls for an investigation and was written by bin Laden’s fourth son Omar Osama bin Laden, who always disagreed with his father’s ideology.
