Britain is facing an uncertain future today after – as predicted – its general election failed to return an outright winner. Exit polls and partial results show the opposition Conservatives taking more seats than any other party, but not enough to form a government on their own. No clear winner in UK election The expected Liberal Democrat surge does not seem to have materialized while the ruling Labour Party has suffered heavy losses. Conservative leader David Cameron has won his seat, but not the war, yet. Speaking as he was returned as MP for Witney near Oxford he said: “What is clear from these results is that the country, our country, wants change. that change is going to require new leadership. and whatever happens tonight, we will stand ready to do all that we can to help bring that leadership, to bring strong, stable, decisive and good government to our country.” It was a clear call to others to ally themselves to the Conservatives. But if Cameron cannot build a coalition he could still try to form a minority government something the UK has not seen since 1979.
