A weekend U.S. offensive against al-Qaida militants near Baghdad resulted in 9 civilian deaths, the U.S. Army said today. Army spokeswoman Lt. Col. Maura Gillen told CNN one of the fatalities was a child and two other children were among three people wounded in the Saturday mission in Iskandariya, 30 miles south of the capital. 9 Iraqi civilians killed by U.S. troops Gillen offered few details but said the army was investigating the civilian deaths.
