"The assumption is that Matej drowned, the river took him to the Danube" VIDEO

"An unpleasant event. The search is in progress. There is a possibility that he fell, hit his head and lost consciousness in this part and that he drowned... The water temperature is between four and five degrees, the drowned man does not fall to the bottom or swim out to the surface, it remains somewhere in between", Zdravković explained for TV Prva.

Zdravković, who is also the captain, stated that the river floats at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour and there is a presumption that it took him in the direction of the Danube.

Zdravković stated that the Minister of the Interior, Aleksandar Vulin, is personally interested in the case and is monitoring the entire situation.

Two vessels are reportedly involved in the search. Let us remind you, Matej Periš, a young man from Split, was last seen in a Belgrade nightclub. Serbian water polo legends also joined the search for him. Matej is 188 centimeters tall, has blue eyes and hair.

The police are in front of the "Gothic" club, where the missing Matej Periš from Split was last seen on the night between Thursday and Friday.

"They already have certain assessment"

Earlier today, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, spoke about this case.

"I received information this morning. I'm waiting for new ones. Basically, we don't have a solution yet. I hope that the authorities will find Matej. I want that for him and his family. Our authorities are doing everything in their power and already have an assessment of what happened", Vučić pointed out after the presentation of the "cornet" system in Pancevo.

Friends are suspicious?

Retired Zagreb criminologist and search expert Branko Lazarevic points out that in the case of the search for the missing Matej Peris, it is not clear why his friends reported the disappearance only on December 31 around 6 p.m., and the young man was last seen almost 16 hours earlier, on December 31 around 2:30 a.m.

He wonders why they waited so long, and these are hours that are very important.

"If the disappearance of the young man was reported in Zagreb, my colleagues and I would literally bring everyone from the club to the station, and the friends who were in the company of the missing would be immediately separated, examined separately and polygraph tested to see if all allegations matched about the disappearance", Lazarević pointed out.
