The ceremony was attended by Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, Minister of Culture and Information Vladan Vukosavljevic, Belgrade Mayor Zoran Radojicic, Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic, US Ambassador to Serbia Kyle Scott and others.

Brnabic pointed out in her address that the unveiling of the monument "somewhat changed historical inequality, since we do not pay enough attention to people who, like him, were the best ambassadors of Serbia in the world."

By that we give a signal to everyone who is fighting for Serbia everywhere in the world that we will thank them and remember them, she said.

Vladan Vukosavljevic said that the story of Karl Malden is part of a great story about the first Serbian generations who were able to recognize their gift and realize their possibilities.

Kyle Scott said that Karl Malden was born in Chicago, in a family that had taught him how to love and be proud of Serbian heritage, stressing that he was a man who represented common values ​​and what is best in the Serbs and in the Americans.
