Ambassadors get busy on social ahead of Russia v. Croatia
Chepurin said that Vucic's optimism expressed during their meeting on June 29 had "surprised him.""But he was not wrong. Thank you to all our Serb friends-supporters," the ambassador wrote.
Vucic responded, also in on Twitter, to say, "I wish you every luck as the competition continues."
Cryptic message
Over in Zagreb, the US ambassador to Croatia also took to social media after the round of 16 games on Sunday, and posted this tweet: Croatian website Index is reporting on Monday that this caused "a mini diplomatic clash."The Croatian press interpreted the message to mean that the ambassador would support Croatia, and that his intention was also to "poke at Russia."
The website then quoted "a response" posted on the Facebook page of the Russian embassy in Zagreb - that accompanied a screenshot of the tweet, and that has since been made unavailable - which said, "Will the US also pay for LNG (liquefied natural gas), help (Croatia's failed giant) Agrokor, and abolish visas for Croatians?"
