Miskovic explained that doctors and city transportation company in Belgrade, GSP, are also involved in this effort.

"We provide them with assistance and everyone who wishes to can be transported to a reception center, and find shelter from low air temperatures," he told the state broadcaster RTS on Thursday, which noted that there are currently around 1,500 migrants in the streets of Belgrade.

"They have their fears, they're here for some connections, they're also waiting for (people) smugglers, they find it convenient for a number of reasons, but it's our job to provide them with help," said Miskovic, warning that "remaining in the park is no solution as their place is in reception centers who can offer them adequate assistance."

This official, however, ruled out the possibility that force may be used against those migrants who refuse to move to reception centers.

Miskovic said that these centers have sufficient capacity of some 6,000 places, and that migrants can get their asylum-seeking certificate from the police within one day - but that even those without this document are accepted in the centers.
