The website said it learned from the workers in nearby stores that the incident had been reported to the police, who should investigate the scene.

Veljovic, meanwhile, commented to say he was "not surprised" by the reaction, and explained that the exhibition was meant to point out that a city had existed "and that it was destroyed."

The exhibition was organized by Art Clinic and the Women in Black NGO on the 25th anniversary of the fall of Vukovar, a town in eastern Croatia.

The exhibition was to last a month, but Veljkovic said that it now remains to be decided weather to reinstall it in a different location.
