Belgrade: Fare evaders to be issued electronic warrants
Ticket inspectors will immediately forward such passengers' personal data to the Communal Police, who will send back electronically signed misdemeanor warrants, that will then be delivered to the passenger.Previously, ticket inspectors were able to either issue a special RSD 2,000 ticket to fare evaders, or take their personal data and forward it to the Communal Police.
Ticket inspectors will now be able to immediately print out a misdemeanor warrant, i.e., a fine.
The city explained the decision by saying that the costs of issuing misdemeanor warrants would be cut in this way. Between 12,000 and 15,000 such warrants are issued each month.
