Its founder, trombonist Ljubomir Matijaca, one of the pioneers of Serbian and Yugoslav jazz, also received a lifetime achievement award on the occasion.

U.S. guitar virtuoso Al Di Meola was the star of the opening night.

In the main program alone, Nisville will feature 25 acts, including soul diva Joss Stone, the Cyrus Chestnut Trio, saxophonist Bill Evans, the jazz-funk band Shakatak, jazz saxophonist and rapper Soweto Kinch, the Tango and Jazz Quartet, the Yuri Honing Quartet and the Remi Panossian Trio.
