Serbia plans to build stadium capable of hosting CL final

FSS General Secretary Nebojsa Ivkovic on Tuesday spoke about this topic at the Danas Conference Center, informing those present about "the current situation related to the realization of this project for the future of Serbian football."

The stadium will be multifunctional but without a running track, with 50,000-seat capacity. The FSS believes that this venue could compete to host Europe's biggest football events: Champions League, Europa League, and UEFA Super Cup final games.

In addition, all Serbian clubs competing in UEFA competitions would be able to use it.

The conference was told that the European football association would offer "full expert support" to the project. The next step after choosing the location will be the stadium's design - to be aligned with "best practices used for building similar structures" elsewhere in Europe.

Previously, Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic promised the state would secure "150 million in three years' time" in order to build a new stadium in Belgrade that would be "the best in the region, and beyond."
