The Belgrade International Book Fair, a major literary and cultural event in Serbia and the region, was opened on Sunday.

60th Belgrade Book Fair opened

Russia is the country-guest of honor at this year’s event that will see participation of 483 publishers, 67 from abroad, and will run until November 1.

A number of panels, promotional programs and thematic exhibitions will be put on to celebrate 100 years since the birth of writer Branko Copic, 80 years since the birth of Danilo Kis, 120 years since the birth of Milan Kasanin, and the 1,200th anniversary of the birth of Saint Methodius, Tanjug reported ahead of the opening ceremony.

Also celebrated will by the 400th anniversary of Don Quixote and 100 years since Charlie Chaplin’s first film.
