Italian embassy marks national holiday with reception
The reception was organized to mark the 69th anniversary of the foundation of the republic only a few days after Italian President Sergio Mattarella's visit to Belgrade that confirmed the long-standing friendship between the two countries. The reception was attended by Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, Minister without Portfolio in charge of EU integration Jadranka Joksimovic, Chief-of-staff of the Serbian Armed Forces Ljubisa Dikovic, numerous political and public figures and representatives of the diplomatic corps.
Italian Ambassador to Serbia Giuseppe Manzo said that Italy strongly supports Serbia's EU pathway, highlighting the last week's visit by President Mattarella and the fact that two weeks ago a meeting of the Friends of Serbia was held upon the initiative of Italy, adding that Wednesday's reception has brought together 1,500 friends of Italy from Serbia.
Manzo told reporters that the announcement he made at the last year's reception about Italy's investments came true, pointing to the investments of Ferrero and others.
There will be more investments, he said.
