Citizens and journalists have lit candles in front of the French embassy in Belgrade to pay respects to those killed in an attack on a satirical weekly.

Candles lit in Belgrade to honor victims of Paris attack

They were joined by French Embassy Charge d'Affaires Francois Bonet and Political Advisor Jerome Kelle, Nadja Petrovski, media advisor to the French embassy in Belgrade, has told a Tanjug reporter.

Masked and armed attackers yesterday stormed the offices of the French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo in Paris, famous for cartoons mocking Islamic leaders, and killed 12 people, including eight journalists and two policemen. Eleven people were injured, some of them seriously.

It was the deadliest terrorist attack in France for the last 40 years, Tanjug said.
