Snowfall disrupts traffic, electricity supply

All main roads are open in Belgrade, but in western Serbia, in the Ivanjica municipality area, 50 centimeters of snow shut down access roads to Devici, Golija, and Kusici.

Snowdrifts and strong winds are also causing problems in northern Serbia, where the road towards Elemir was closed this morning in the Zrenjanin municipality.

Trucks and trailer trucks are banned from driving on the mountain roads in Zlatibor, Kadinjaca, and Tara, although these remain open.

All drivers are advised to show extra caution given the weather conditions.

In the Moravica District 1,000 households are currently without electricity due to a transformer station malfunction.

Meteorologist Nedeljko Todorovic told B92 that "the real winter weather" will continue in Serbia at least until Saturday, while snow should stop falling by the end of the day.
