Japanese ambassador receives state decoration

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić on Monday decorated outgoing Japanese Ambassador to Serbia Toshio Tsunozaki with the Order of the Serbian Flag, Second Class.

BELGRADE Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic on Monday decorated outgoing Japanese Ambassador to Serbia Toshio Tsunozaki with the Order of the Serbian Flag, Second Class. The accolade was given for the Japanese diplomat's contribution to the development and strengthening of the peaceful cooperation and friendly relations between Serbia and Japan. Japanese ambassador receives state decoration Nikolic thanked Tsunozaki for everything he has done for Serbia and said that the order is going "onto the right bosom, to the right hands and to the right country." "Thank you for everything you did for Serbia during your tenure. You did not forget Serbia even while Japan was going through the most difficult days in its post-war history,” said the Serbian president, recalling the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan in March 2011. Nikolic added that no matter how much aid Japan needed itself, Tsunozaki always managed to “find a part that arrived in Serbia.” Nikolic said that the Japanese ambassador is responsible for bringing the two geographically distant countries together. Thanking for the distinction bestowed upon him, Tsunozaki said that during his tenure, Japan granted Serbia a loan to improve the operation of the Nikola Tesla power plant, made a decision to abolish visa requirements for the citizens of Serbia and the Japanese government approved a number of grants to Serbia. Calling his work in Serbia successful, Tsunozaki expressed his gratitude for the help and solidarity shown by the people of Serbia after the disastrous earthquake.
