Đoković attends consecration of SPC church in Montenegro

Serbia's best tennis player and world no. 2 Novak Đoković was on Thursday in Montenegro where a new temple of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) was consecrated.

NIKSIC Serbia's best tennis player and world no. 2 Novak Djokovic was on Thursday in Montenegro where a new temple of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) was consecrated. The church, dedicated to Archangel Michael, is located on Jasenovo Polje, near the town of Niksic - the place of origin of Djokovic's ancestors, it has been said. A large number of residents of Nikisic and other Montenegrin towns flocked to Jasenovo Polje on Thursday, in the hope of meeting Djokovic. His father, Srdjan, who was given the Order of Holy King Milutin by the SPC Synod for his role in the building of the church, was also present. SPC Metropolitan of Montenegro and Littoral Amfilohije and other bishops and clergy served holy liturgy today. The metropolitan said that the new church in Jasenovo should serve as an example "of self-sacrifice for the willing of God and well-being of others".
