BELGRADE A storm that hit Belgrade on Sunday afternoon caused only minor material damage as it ripped out trees that fell onto parked cars. A dog was killed and three cars damaged when a tree fell in Humska Street. Strong storm causes damage in several towns The rain and the wind also caused traffic jams on the bridges connecting Belgrade and New Belgrade. The situation was similar in much of the rest of Serbia on Sunday afternoon, with the northern town of Subotica taking the brunt of the storm. The wind was felling trees there as well, while reports said that the Sencanska Church was damaged. Mayor Modest Dulic and other town hall officials confirmed that the roof was damaged in several places, while the belfry was leaning to one side. They pledged to help repair the roof and stabilize the belfry. In the Macva District in western Serbia hailstorm damaged homes and crops. There were minor traffic accidents reported. Meanwhile in the town of Bijeljina, in the Serb Republic (RS) in Bosnia - just across the Drina River from Serbia - five people were reported injured by the storm.
