The medical intervention came as reports said the health of the former workers of the Ratko Mitrovic construction company had deteriorated. Hunger strikers in central town treated in hospital Strike leader Predrag Radovic told Tanjug news agency that Momir Jovanovic and Momir Filipovic were taken to the hospital early on Tuesday in an ambulance. The hunger strikers are experiencing problems related to blood pressure, blood sugar, and exhaustion. Company owner Dragoljub Pantic declared bankruptcy on March 19, and sacked all 110 workers. But they are still owed wages for the period covering the past two years. Per worker, the sum owed ranges from around EUR 700 to EUR 1,200. But Pantic was previously quoted as saying that he "did not have the money to pay the workers". Out of the total of 80 strikers, 44 also stopped taking food last Wednesday. They accuse Pantic of declaring bankruptcy "in an attempt to get rid of his debts toward workers and creditors". A file photo of the strikers B92 Tanjug
