Ex-national team captain joins B92 campaign The football player, currently defending the colors of Inter from Milan, has donated funds for the purchase of three new incubators, to be soon delivered to the following health institutions: General Hospital in Valjevo, General Hospital in Negotin and the Institute for Neonatology in Belgrade. Dejan Stankovic regularly donates to charity and participates in numerous humanitarian campaigns in Serbia, but he always insists on remaining anonymous. However, this renowned football player and the father of three had given his consent that we mention his name so that it could help in prompting others to do the same, and directing attention to the problems which premature born babies face in Serbia. Primary goal of the campaign Battle for the Babies was gathering funds for the provision of 100 new incubators for the needs of our youngest and most threatened fellow citizens. With today’s donation, we recorded a double victory that presents a strong stimulus for the new actions to be taken within the Year of the Babies. "Dejan Stankovic has consented to announce his name as donor only after we asked him. It is great pleasure that such an athlete has, to use sports language, 'scored' and rounded off the number of the purchased incubators to 200. The Year of the Babies has just commenced and there are lots of battles to be won in the course of this year, in cooperation with all the people showing good will, so that we can provide the youngest fighters with the best possible care“, Veran Matic, president of B92 Fund has stated with regards to the new victory in the Battle of the Babies. B92 Fund has proclaimed 2012 a Year of the Babies, and during this year the range of actions in the fight for the lives of the youngest will be expanded to all the segments that our babies need in order to have undisturbed and happy childhood. From the beginning of 2012 until today, Serbian golden water polo players had joined our campaign, donating one incubator for the prematurely born babies to the Belgrade Institute for Neonatology. 2012 donors are also the following: Milan Popovic (10 incubators), United Serbian Breweries (2 incubators), priests of Sabac Eparchy (1 incubator), Novo Nordisk Pharm (1 incubator) and Messer Tehnogas (1 incubator). The following companies had signed the donor’s contract: Mining and Smelting Complex Bor (2 incubators) and Rottary Club from Subotica (1 incubator). B92
