The Sava River near Sabac is not safe for swimmers because of an increase in bacteria from fecal matter. According to an analysis done by the local public health bureau, swimmers should stay out of the water. The construction of an open-air pool has been slowed by the economic crisis, while Miroslav Bogicevic of the Famakom MB company said that he would give the city a pool he bought during privatization if the city invests in its reconstruction. The number of bacteria from fecal matter in the beach water is 12 times higher than the allowed concentration. The sector for inspections and communal-residential works has informed citizens of the potential hazards of swimming in the river. “The sanitary inspection has also executed a control of the area and it has prohibited swimming on the city beach,” Milan Vasic of the sector for inspections stated.
