The Belgrade Veterinary Institution announced today that the dog, whose legs have been cut off, will get prosthetic limbs likely in a month's time. Mila the dog to get prosthetic limbs Director of the Belgrade Veterinary Institution Bratislav Stankovic said that she was still receiving therapy for her heart condition, but that she was recovering well. Stankovic stated that a lot of attention has been given to Mila’s recovery and socialization and that she is now friendly, and even playing with other animals. “Simply put, she’s ready to make some family who will take her really happy,” he said. Orthopedic prosthetics manufacturer Rudo representative Branislav Markovic also spoke to reporters today in Belgrade to say that Mila would have her plaster prints taken on Monday, and that the making of the prosthetic limbs, which should take about 20 days, will follow. Deputy Secretary for Belgrade Utilities and Housing Services Vladimir Terzin repeated once again that the city was ready to pay for the treatment, and that all fundfs raised for Mila in the wake of the incident can be used for other purposes. Since surviving the attack, Mila has been recovering at the Belgrade Veterinary Institution. The B92 Fund, set up to promote and raise funds in a wide range of humanitarian campaigns, has also organized the Mila Fund, which aims to help the dog's recovery, but also the treatment of other animals subjected to cruelty and violence. The Mila Fund will together with similar organizations and the city of Belgrade institutions help develop an organization modeled after the Pet Police, that will provide urgent veterinary help and care for abused animals, as well as help bring perpetrators to justice.
