Even though rivers in Serbia have begun to recede, the floods have left great material damage in many regions. The Sava and Danube continue to rise in Belgrade, but are not dangerously high. However, places like Kolubara and Jadar have flooded houses and property with a great amount of material damaged incurred. Flooding leaves serious damage behind Chief of the emergency situations sector of the Interior Ministry, Predrag Maric, said that the waters in critical areas are slowly receding, and added that the most critical situation is currently in Obrenovac. Some 135 homes in that Belgrade municipality have been flooded. Emergency defense measures have been implemented in Sabac, where the Sava has reached 494 centimeters in height. It has grown by 31 centimeters in one day. All three Valjevo communities in which emergency situations were declared have seen the water begin to recede, but a lot of waste has been left on the shores. Disinfection has started in 320 household in the 20 villages of this region and the total value of the damage occurred in the Valjevo area is said to be about RSD 484mn. State Administration and Local Self-Administration Minister Marko Markovic visited the flooded families in the municipality of Osecina. He said that the government will be offering RSD 40mn of aid to them and all the municipalities in the region that have suffered damages from the flooding. Agriculture Minister Sasa Dragin said that the government will propose that the farmers that have had one-third of their fields flooded be freed of paying for drainage costs. (Tanjug)
