Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia and Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia have triumphed in the mixed doubles competition at the French Open. On Thursday in Paris, they defeated Julian Knowle of Austria and Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan, 4-6, 7-6 (5), 11-9. Serb-Slovenian double win at French Open Zimonjic and Srebotnik came out on top in an exciting match, which remained uncertain until the very end, said reports. Zimonjic will rally with Daniel Nestor of Canada for the final match in the men's doubles against Czech Republic's Lukas Dlohi and India's Leander Paes. Meanwhile, Serbia's highest ranked women's tennis player Jelena Jankovic failed to qualify for the final at the French Open after losing to Australia's Samantha Stosur 6-1, 6-2. After excellent performances in the early stages of the tournament, Jankovic was expected to finally reach her first French Open final, but was completely outplayed by Stosur. In 2007 and 2008 Jelena reached the semifinals in Paris, and this year she had an opportunity to win the trophy since the main favorites had been ousted early. Jankovic was helpless against Stosur and suffered one of her worst defeats of the last several seasons in under an hour.
