Hanukka, also known as Hag HaUrim, is marked as the holiday of freedom and light. Jews celebrate Hanukkah, festival of lights The holiday commemorates the three-year liberation war, and the liberation of Jerusalem in 165 BC. It was then that Maccabi, a Jewish military leader, defeated the Syrians. This was followed by the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem.
