Several hundred employees from the privatized July 7 and Kopaonik factories blocked the Kursumlija municipal building again on Tuesday morning. They are unhappy with Monday’s talks between their officials and Labor and Social Policies Minister Rasim Ljajic. Protesters block Kursumlija town hall The strike council has announced blockades of the building in the coming days as well, demanding that Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic come to Kursumlija for talks. The protestors did not allow municipal workers to enter the building this morning. President of the Strikers’ Union Borivoje Urosevic said that the employees were unhappy with Ljajic’s offer of a one-off aid payment to the workers. They continue to insist that Cvetkovic should visit Kursumlija, because, according to Urosevic, he was the director of the Privatization Agency when these companies were privatized. “We are not pleased. Yesterday we saw off a delegation of strikers to Belgrade and wished them a safe trip. They came back without information that Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic and Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic would be coming to Kursumlija. They did not accomplish that goal and they may as well not even have gone to Belgrade. Social aid is something else. We will block the municipal building until Cvetkovic and Dinkic come here,” Urosevic said. Former employees of the privatized companies have been blocking the work of the municipality for two days straight. There have been no incidents in front of the municipal building today, which is being guarded by police. The strikers say that they will maintain a constant presence in front of the building in the coming days.
