One person died and several were injured in an accident on the Zrenjanin highway, where a car crashed into a truck, the Interior Minister’s emergency medical unit told the Tanjug agency.
The accident occurred at 06:30 in the morning and the traffic situation has been difficult on that section of the highway ever since.
One car flipped over on the highway near the student campus in Belgrade, causing a traffic jam in that section of the highway, while two other minor accidents were reported on Branko’s bridge and in Ustanička street, a taxi agency informed Tanjug.
Snow has been falling in Belgrade all morning and has slowed traffic throughout the city, especially on main roads.
According to Zuti Taxi’s dispatch service, there are significant delays on most bridges and major thoroughfares.
The Beogradput company told Tanjug that there were 82 vehicles out cleaning city streets.
Company official Milorad Pucarević said that the cleaning services were working at full capacity on streets considered priorities, while in Belgrade suburbs, operations were progressing more slowly.
