Inquiry into girl's death

The District Prosecution is to call for a further inquiry into the death of three-year old Anja Grahovac during a cataract operation. In May of this year, the girl underwent an operation at the private Perfekta clinic, and the prosecution wants a re-examination of the report by a Novi Sad Medical Faculty expert, suggesting she did not die as a result of a doctor’s error. Inquiry into girl's death In the report submitted yesterday to the prosecution, it is stated that the doctors did not make an oversight that could have led to the three-year old’s death, while at the same time they could not determine what had in fact caused the brain haemorrhage. The prosecution wants to know whether any genetic examination was conducted while Grahovac was still in a coma at the Mother and Child Institute. The doctors under suspicion, anasthaesiologist Stanoje Glisic, opthamologist Bozidar Ilic, Perfekta owner Dejan Milutinovic and assistant Milan Vasiljevic, are still in custody, as the Investigate Court did not approve the prosecution’s proposal for release, and the Supreme Court will rule on the matter on Monday.
