A spokesman for the police says any attempt by neo-Nazi groups to hold a rally on Sunday in Novi Sad will be prevented. Stevan Krstic added that the police will not allow any conflicts to break out either. Asked whether the Novi Sad police will stop the gathering of extremists announced for Sunday as Interior Minister Dragan Jocic promised, Krstic said, “absolutely.” Police have prohibited the rally planned by members of the neo-Nazi Nacionalni Stroj group announced for October 7. 15 non-governmental organizations and four political parties announced a counter-rally for the same day to to protest extremism in Serbia. Krstic promised that the “Stop Fascism” protest will be held in a peaceful atmosphere.
