Jewish community protests Nazi rally In a letter written to the authorities, the Union of Jewish Communities vehemently opposes the staging of a Nazi rally, and their appearance “in the center of that multicultural city, whose inhabitants were not so long ago victims of the ideas that that group propagates.” A response had previously been sought from the Executive Council of Vojvodina. Union President Aleksandar Necak sent the letter to President Boris Tadic, Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica, and Parliamentary Speaker Oliver Dulic. The letter states that it is “incomprehensible how a group that spreads national, religious and racial hatred, which is punishable by law, could receive permission to hold a rally,” and asks the rally to be stopped and prohibited. “On behalf of all the victims of Nazi ideology, on behalf of us, the survivors, who have committed ourselves to never again allow a repeat of Nazi terror, we express our most vehement opposition,” the letter concludes.
