NUNS protests Đinđić killer interview

The NUNS reaction was provoked by a recent interview published in daily Pravda given by Jovanović, second-accused for the murder of late Prime Minister Zoran Đinđić, who received a maximum sentence of 40 years in jail.

“The public is fully aware that the Special Organized Crime Court sentenced Jovanović to maximum jail time, finding him guilty of organizing and executing the assassination along with first-accused Milorad Ulemek,” NUNS reminded.

“Jovanović had an opportunity during the trial to make his defense and Pravda daily should not allowed to deceive the public by printing claims that the Court did not show any understanding for his truth and that the newspaper wanted to give him the satisfaction of being heard,” the statement said.

“What Jovanović said in the interview is irrelevant since it cannot in any case affect the final verdict, even if it can be deduced that the article was published for that purpose.”

NUNS stressed that Jovanović’s lawyer violated the provisions of the law that regulated the social communication between convicts and the public, demanding from the bar to react and penalize the lawyer in question.
